Pilates has a multitude of benefits far beyond the physical. At Williamstown Health + Lifestyle, we aim to provide personalised clinical classes, personal training, and studio programs that are the perfect entry point to get your mind and body working together and moving optimally.
Our Studio Pilates programs at Williamstown Health + Lifestyle concentrate on spinal stabilisation, a results-driven choice for those who have suffered previous injuries or who have particular wellness goals to work towards.
Pilates is a form of exercise that works to improve stability and muscle control, improve and strengthen posture, and increase flexibility with an emphasis on proper breathing.
Clinical Pilates is led by an instructor who is also a qualified allied health professional (usually a physiotherapist, but not always). They possess skilled anatomical knowledge and specialise in injury management, which enables them to tailor Pilates programs to suit each individual perfectly.
Pilates can be beneficial as a holistic approach to the management and rehabilitation of various types of pain, injury, and dysfunction, including:
While both Pilates and clinical Pilates are the same in that they focus on improving core strength, flexibility, posture, and body awareness, there are key differences in their purpose and structure.
Where Pilates is designed for general fitness, strength, and flexibility, clinical Pilates targets specific musculoskeletal injuries, postural issues, and/or functional movement patterns that a person is experiencing.
Pilates is undertaken in group classes (usually 8 or more participants) and led by a qualified instructor using a structured routine that all participants follow. Clinical Pilates, on the other hand, is undertaken either 1-on-1 or in a small group class setting and is led by a physiotherapist (or other allied health professional) using a routine that is customised to the needs of each participant.
All new clients commence with an Initial Private 45-minute session. During this private class, we start to develop a program of rehab exercises that is unique to your body and goals, as well as address any injuries that you may have. Following this session, if your instructor deems it appropriate, you can choose to join a group class (with a maximum of 4 people per class) or continue with a private class.
Small class sizes ensure that you receive an exceptional level of care and attention from your instructor.
We have a modern, purpose-built facility here at Williamstown Health + Lifestyle that is equipped with everything you need to participate in your program.
